This set includes two lampwork beads, perfect for creating stunning earrings. Each bead features a beautiful bright teal base glass and is decorated with fine silver droplets around the bead. The beads have been etched to create a smooth, pebble-like texture, adding a refined and natural feel to the design. These beads are perfect for showcasing in any jewelry piece and will arrive carefully packaged to ensure their safe delivery.
Each bead measures approximately 7x13mm with a hole size of 3/32″ (2.4mm). You will receive the exact beads shown in the photographs.
The beads are annealed in a digitally controlled kiln to ensure their lasting strength and durability. I take great care in cleaning, inspecting, and packaging each bead with the same attention to detail that I put into creating them. I hope you will enjoy incorporating them into your own unique jewelry designs!
A little bit about lampwork beads and why they are so special…
Lampwork beads are handmade glass beads created through the centuries-old process of lampworking. In this process, colorful glass rods are melted with a torch, and the molten glass is wound around a steel rod to form the basic shape of the bead. The hot bead is then embellished using various techniques and materials, creating one-of-a-kind pieces.
The term “lampwork” originates from the historical use of oil lamps as the heat source for melting the glass. While modern torches are used today, the name “lampwork” still honors this traditional method.
To prevent stress and cracks, beads are cooled in a kiln with closely regulated temperatures. The beadmaker “soaks” the beads at a high temperature to ensure the glass inside is evenly heated, and then slowly reduces the temperature over several hours. This process, known as kiln annealing, ensures that the beads are strong, durable, and ready to be used in your jewelry creations.
